UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA SYSTEM WELCOMES MR. MARK ROMERO AS NEW CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Gov. Jeff Landry announced Mr. Romero鈥檚 appointment as board chair yesterday.

鈥淚 am deeply honored to step into the role of chair for the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana听System听and thankful to Gov. Landry for his leadership and the opportunity to continue serving the state,鈥 said Mr. Romero. 鈥淐ollaboration is key, and I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to continue elevating the work of our nine universities and all we do to generate positive outcomes for our tens of thousands of students and the state and communities we collectively support.鈥

Mr. Romero, a New Iberia resident, brings a wealth of experience to his role as board chair, having served on the Board of Supervisors for the听ULSystem听since 2013, including previously serving as board chair. Representing the third congressional district, he serves as Executive Vice President at Brown & Brown Insurance Services, leading their retail operations in Louisiana and Mississippi.

鈥淢ark鈥檚 extensive experience, leadership, and commitment to higher education will be invaluable for our board and听System,鈥 said Dr. Jimmy Clarke, former board chair. 鈥淚 look forward to collaborating with Mark as we navigate the exciting opportunities ahead for the students at our nine institutions.鈥

The University of Louisiana听System, one of the nation鈥檚 largest higher education听systems, serves over 82,000 students across nine institutions. The听system听offers various educational opportunities and provides high-quality, cost-efficient education to thousands of Louisiana families.

Mr. Romero鈥檚 appointment as board chair takes effect immediately as he prepares to preside over the board鈥檚 next regularly scheduled meeting on June 13.
